Bubba’s 33 will open its first Tennessee restaurant on Monday, Sept.
14 in Murfreesboro. The restaurant will serve scratch-made pizzas and burgers (with late-night specials) and will hold invite-only soft openings on Sept. 11 and Sept. 13.
Wawa will open its new Murfreesboro store at 5208 Veterans Parkway on Sept.
10 and Buc-ee’s will open its large travel center near Interstate 24 and Joe B. Jackson Parkway in November (job growth expected) to offer more fuel, food, and travel options.
Big Bad Breakfast will open at the former Old City Cafe location in late September and serve breakfast and lunch daily while preserving historic signage and woodwork.
Newly elected Mayor Randy Allen outlined transparent plans for local governance including steps to improve waste management and revive the county fair.
🎭 Culture
The Center for the Arts in downtown finished roof and HVAC upgrades with a $48,585 state grant from the General Assembly — funds that improved water control and climate for the historic venue at 110 W.
College Street. The project preserves a local landmark for community events and art classes.
🎓 Education
Hundreds of new students and family members filled the Murphy Center on Aug.
22 for MTSU’s annual convocation ceremony, where MTSU president McPhee, SGA president Garrett + keynote speaker Larson offered advice to help them begin their academic journey.
Local school boards are planning to display the Ten Commandments in schools under a new law that took effect July 1.
Rutherford County is furthest along with active fundraising for a full-color display design, while Wilson and White County schools consider proposals in upcoming meetings.
🏈 Sports
The Tennessee Sports Writers Association released Week 1 statewide football rankings for all nine classes after games began on Aug.
20. Updated rankings will be announced each Monday during the TSSAA season as teams prepare for the December BlueCross Bowl state championships.
