  • The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption is expanding its Wendy’s Wonderful Kids program by adding 12 new recruiters to help nearly 8,000 foster children in Tennessee find permanent homes — the move will increase support from serving 24 to serving up to 160 children and will focus on older youth, sibling groups and children with disabilities in partnership with state agencies.  FOX 17

  • In a quiet Murfreesboro neighborhood, Music City Tea has opened in a private home to share over 3,000 years of Chinese tea history with locals. Owner Jenny Zhuang serves nearly 200 teas for free tasting—customers enjoy traditional music and a special feast on the first Saturday of each month.  FOX 17

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Murfreesboro-based City Auto Mitsubishi donated two new Mitsubishi SUVs (a 2024 Outlander Plug-in Hybrid and a 2024 Eclipse Cross) to Rutherford County Schools today to support its in-school driver-training program. The vehicles will be used to combine classroom and in-car learning (aiming to teach safe driving) for future student drivers.  Murfreesboro.com

  • Neonatologists say that Abbott Laboratories and other formula makers have not shared key information about cow milk-based fortifiers that raise NEC risks in extremely low birth weight infants—experts and officials are now calling for federal guidelines and transparency to protect these vulnerable babies.  The Daily News Journal
  • A study shows that Tennessee is drinking more alcohol while most states cut back, with more than 48% of adults saying they drank in 2023. A crash in June on Interstate 24 killed a 51-year-old Murfreesboro woman, and the high number of drunk driving deaths has raised safety concerns in the state—officials plan to take action soon.  The Daily News Journal
