ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On Wednesday night, Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department responded to a fire on Ridgecrest Drive that displaced a family—firefighters found heavy smoke in the kitchen, rescued a cat, and reported no injuries while the American Red Cross assisted as the Fire Marshal investigates the cause. - ➤ A 55-year-old woman hit in a Kroger parking lot on South Church Street on Aug. 24 died on Sept. 3; authorities arrested 44-year-old Murfreesboro resident Heather Keller on Aug. 25—she faces multiple felony charges—. FOX 17
- ➤ Police searched near TownePlace Suites by Marriott along I-24 after license plate cameras detected a stolen Toyota Camry while evacuating construction workers, and drone pilots assisted officers in looking for a North Carolina suspect accused of murder and kidnapping—though the suspect remained at large. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ TDOT is upgrading two exit ramps along Interstate 24 in Rutherford County to ease congestion. Motorists at the Exit 81 ramp near State Route 10 may see delays as crews widen and lengthen that ramp—work at Exit 84 is also underway and is expected to finish in October. The Daily News Journal

- ➤ Rutherford County health inspectors released scores from August 28 to September 4 for schools, food service establishments, and swimming pools in Murfreesboro and Smyrna—scores are posted for public review and inspectors visit each location twice a year. Rutherford County Source
- ➤ Lawmakers in Tennessee are reviewing bills that would stop healthcare providers from reporting patients’ medical debt to consumer reporting agencies—aimed at easing financial stress linked to poor mental health.
