- ➤ On September 10th, MTSU welcomed three new Board Trustees, re-elected its leadership, approved new graduate programs, & enrollment passed 21,000 as families enjoyed the Fall Harvest Festival at Lane Agri Park. Authorities arrested Robert Alexander Russell in Smyrna for drug trafficking, detectives seek clues on a Hobby Lobby incident, Sheriff Mike Fitzhugh announced his retirement set for August 2026, & the Tennessee Historical Commission will review new historic nominations in Cannon and Chester Counties. - ➤ A new Char steakhouse will open by 2027 near Trader Joe's off Medical Center Pkwy and Robert Rose Drive as part of The Exchange development in Murfreesboro — a project by local developer TDK that includes apartments and retail space. Nashville-based 4Top Hospitality will break ground on Sept. 17 and add about 50 jobs to the area. The Daily News Journal

- ➤ Middle Tennessee State University is finalizing Homecoming 2025 plans under the 'Boro Bound Road Trip' theme and will host a series of events leading to a football game against Marshall at 6 p.m. on Sept. 20 at Floyd Stadium—key activities include a parade, tailgating, and a Golden Raiders Reunion. - ➤ Bridget Cole, a physical science teacher at Stewart’s Creek Middle School, has been chosen for the yearlong Cumberland River Compact Teacher Fellowship—she will work with educators across the state to add water projects to her science curriculum. WGNS
- ➤ At the School Board meeting this week, Butch Campbell stepped down as Chair after ten years of service—he will now serve as Vice Chair—while Amanda Moore was elected as the new Chair. - ➤ The Rutherford County Planning Commission approved 'Plan Rutherford' today as a long-term blueprint to manage rapid growth and preserve farmland since officials expect the population to exceed 550,000 by 2045. The blueprint now goes to the County Commission for review on Oct. 7—officials say further discussion will set the course for development. FOX 17

- ➤ Researchers are urging that Chagas disease—spread by kissing bugs—to be classified as endemic in the United States after studies show these bugs appear in 31 states; Tennessee reported no confirmed cases since 2014 even though nine cases were noted between 2010 and 2018. The Daily News Journal
