  • Primary Care & Hope Clinic will open its second location in Rutherford County — the new facility will expand access to health services for local residents.  Murfreesboro Post
  • The 7th annual Downtown on the Farm will be held Sunday, Sept. 21 at Oaklands Mansion—featuring a farm-to-table dinner prepared by local chefs and live music from The Howling Embers. Proceeds from the event will fund scholarships for Rutherford County students.  Rutherford County Source
  • Lee Moss, a long-time Murfreesboro banker and community leader who died from glioblastoma, was honored at a Celebration of Life attended by family, friends, fellow bankers—local community leaders and non-profits who remember his 48-year career and mentorship.   • 4Top Hospitality plans a new Char Restaurant in Murfreesboro at 2305 Exchange Dr — near the corner of Medical Center Parkway and Robert Rose Drive in the upcoming Exchange development. CULTURE NEWS

  • The Culture and Christianity Conference in Murfreesboro will proceed from September 19—20 at World Outreach Church as a tribute to conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was set to speak before his death on September 10 at Utah Valley University. Organizers say the event will honor his life while Christian leaders address faith and culture.  Rutherford County Source

EDUCATION NEWS

  • At its meeting Thursday night, the Rutherford County School Board approved a 5.5 percent increase in staff insurance premiums and will use additional TISA funds to cover half the cost, totaling about $1.943 million for January to December—aiming to ease the burden on teachers.  Murfreesboro Post

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Leaves in Middle Tennessee will begin to change in early October and reach moderate color by late October with peak views early to mid-November—though heavy rain and insect damage may cause dull colors this season.  The Daily News Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Rutherford County Sheriff Mike Fitzhugh will retire at the end of his second term next summer—his final day is set for Aug. 31. The office will hold primaries on May 5 with a general election on Aug. 6—two employees, Lt. Kenneth Barrett and Deputy Chief Steve Spence, are running to replace him.  Murfreesboro Post

HEALTH NEWS

  • Rutherford County Commissioners passed a resolution backing plans by HCA TriStar Health to build a freestanding emergency room at South Church Street and Warrior Drive—while Ascension Saint Thomas and Murfreesboro Medical Clinic plan a second facility in north Rutherford County to serve Lascassas; both projects await HSDA approval.  WGNS

SPORTS NEWS

  • MTSU women’s soccer tied 2-2 with Tennessee Tech on September 12—Tennessee Tech scored early and both teams equalized in the second half; the Blue Raiders did not secure a win for the third straight game and will travel to Evansville on September 14 as their final pre-Conference USA matchup.  MTSU Sidelines
  • In today's Talkin' Titans column, host Nick Suss explained that coach Brian Callahan never worked with Rams head coach Sean McVay—despite common misconceptions—and offered five thoughts for the Titans vs Rams game set for Sunday, noting potential shifts in offensive tempo and player promotions.   • Before its week 3 game, Middle Tennessee will face Nevada’s Wolf Pack—one win from a close game against Sacramento State and led by coach Jeff Choate.
