- ➤ 4Top Hospitality announced a new Southern-style steakhouse, Char Restaurant, is coming to Murfreesboro at The Exchange on 2305 Exchange Drive. Groundbreaking is planned later this year and the 6,600-square-foot site will open in 2027 and create 50 jobs—bringing live music, a piano bar and a modern menu of Southern favorites to the area. - ➤ World Outreach Church held its second Culture & Christianity Conference in Murfreesboro on Sept. 19 to honor Charlie Kirk, who was to speak before he was killed; 3,000 people listened as speakers called for strong conservative Christian values. - ➤ MTSU alum Cal Mitchell from Murfreesboro will star as the Lion in The Wiz on a national tour — he will perform at Nashville’s Tennessee Performing Arts Center from Sept. 23 to 28 and continue in the role through May after a promotion from ensemble and understudy parts. WGNS

- ➤ Roots Rendezvous festival, presented by Uncle Dave Macon Days, is in full swing at Hop Springs Beer Park through Sunday and uses the theme 'A Coming Home' to honor American roots music near Uncle Dave Macon’s historic home. Saturday morning saw a 100-mile Hammer Down for Habitat poker run starting at the Habitat office on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, and the event includes live bluegrass, Americana, string music, dance showcases, artisan vendors— all accessible with a single parking fee. - ➤ Murfreesboro ranks as the 16th fastest-growing city in the country—its population increased nearly 20% over five years and new jobs are drawing families and professionals. - ➤ Tennessee quarterback Joey Aguilar started strong in the Vols' 56-24 win over UAB on Sept. 20—he threw two touchdown passes in the first four minutes and finished 15-of-22 for 218 yards and three touchdowns.
