- ➤ Kroger said construction is underway for its ninth grocery store by Smyrna High and it is expected to open by early 2027 as part of a shopping center that includes a McDonald’s and a bank—officials confirmed that traffic improvements near the school will ease congestion while all existing stores remain open. - ➤ TriStar StoneCrest Medical Center received a Certificate of Need for a new $19 million freestanding emergency room in southern Murfreesboro—approved by the Tennessee Health Facilities Commission to improve 24/7 emergency care amid rapid local growth. - ➤ The Tennessee Titans will travel to Las Vegas on Sunday, Oct. 12 at 3:05 p.m. to face the Raiders as both 1-4 teams look to improve their season after the Titans' win on Oct. 5—FOX and WZTV Fox 17 will broadcast the game locally. The Daily News Journal
- ➤ MTSU volleyball snapped a three-game losing streak on Oct. 7 with a 3—0 sweep over TSU while honoring its international players by displaying flags of their home countries on the court. - ➤ The Titans will face the Raiders on Oct 12 at 3:05 p.m. as coach Brian Callahan said right tackle JC Latham—who missed four games with a hip injury—may return to practice while Calvin Ridley and Tyjae Spears continue to battle injuries. Central Magnet won its third district title after defeating Spring Hill and Forrest and will face Stone Memorial in Upperman at 6 p.m. on Tuesday as they move on to region play with a chance to reach the state tournament.
