  • Trick or Treat on the Historic Rutherford County Square in Murfreesboro will be held on Friday, October 31 from 3-5 p.m.—local businesses will welcome families to collect candy and enjoy a safe Halloween event.  Rutherford County Source
  • Rutherford County Habitat for Humanity will hold the annual COOKIN’ TO BUILD event on November 1 on Murfreesboro’s Public Square from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Community members can paint bowls at Color Me Mine at The Avenue until October 15 for $30—this fee covers painting supplies, bowl firing, and early entry at 10:30 a.m.  Rutherford County Source
  • Nine farms across Middle Tennessee offer hayrides, corn mazes and pumpkin patches for fall fun until October 31. Some sites host full-day events with games, treats and interactive activities—giving families festive seasonal options.  Rutherford County Source
  • Experience Community Church in Murfreesboro will host its annual Experience Christmas event on December 12 (5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.) to provide gifts for 1,500 to 2,000 kids. Outreach Director Kyle said local businesses and community members are invited to donate toys, clothing, books and toiletries to help families in need.  Murfreesboro.com

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Buc-ee’s will break ground tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. on its new 74,000 square foot travel center at I-24 — Joe B Jackson Parkway in Murfreesboro, where 120 fueling positions will be available. Local leaders will attend the ceremony, which is set to create over 250 full-time jobs — boosting the local economy.  Rutherford County Source

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Buona and The Original Rainbow Cone opened in Murfreesboro on September 16 at 2724 Roby Corlew Lane—its grand opening offered prizes like free Italian beef sandwiches for a year and treats from Rainbow Cone. The event introduced Chicago’s authentic Italian beef and famous sliced cones to the area.  Rutherford County Source

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Tennessee Titans lost 20-10 to the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday as the Raiders sacked quarterback Cam Ward six times — forcing turnovers and building an early lead. The Raiders recovered lost fumbles and scored key points while the Titans struggled with injuries and offensive errors.  Murfreesboro Post
  • Local fans can vote for the top TSSAA athlete for the week Oct 6-11 with nominees from Blackman's, Cannon County, Central Magnet, MTCS, and PCA; the poll closes at 2 p.m. on Oct 16 — cast your vote before the deadline.  The Daily News Journal
  • MTSU women's soccer rallied late to secure a 2-1 victory over Florida International on Sept. 21 at Dean A. Hayes Track and Soccer Stadium—overcoming an early deficit. Coach Aston Rhoden said the win boosted the Blue Raiders as they will play New Mexico State on Oct. 16 at 7 p.m.  MTSU Sidelines
  • On Sunday, Tennessee United won 2-0 in their U.S. Open Cup qualifying match at Station Camp High School against Eagle Sports Southaven FC with goals by Sam Pomeroy and Nick Krall. Head coach John Ferguson said the win shows the team is growing—next they will face a to-be-named opponent in early November.  Murfreesboro Post
