- ➤ This coming Saturday, 10/18, a Car and Bike Show will take place in front of Mercury Plaza Shopping Center—located at 1114 Dr Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.—to support the American Cancer Society by raising funds for cancer research and patient programs. Relay for Life will return on June 12 at Oaklands Mansion from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. WGNS

- ➤ Middle Tennessee State University’s Big Career Fair attracted a record 2,082 students and alumni as 220 employers met on campus, providing local students with valuable career connections. The first MTSU Jazz Artist Series concert will feature Nashville-based trombonist Roland Barber and his quartet at 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23 in Hinton Music Hall—Barber will also lead a free masterclass at 4:30 p.m. that day. - ➤ The TSWA/USA TODAY Network released its Week 9 high school football rankings today—McKenzie in Division I and Milan in Division II jumped to No. 1 as teams earned points from first-place votes that highlighted their strong seasons. Other divisions also showed detailed scoring as editors ranked teams based on their record and performance. The Daily News Journal
- ➤ This week in Conference USA, Missouri State won 22-20 over Middle Tennessee, Liberty won 19-8 over UTEP, Kennesaw State beat Louisiana Tech 35-7, and Jacksonville State edged Sam Houston 29-27.
