  • Today, Hope and Hops returns to the Warehouse at 730 Middle Tennessee Blvd to support domestic violence survivors and fund vital services through local craft brews and bites from partners including Ole Smoky, Half Batch Brewing, Cedar Glade Brews, and Middle Ground Brewing Co. VIP entry begins at 5:30 p.m. and general admission at 6:00 p.m., with donations welcomed from those who cannot attend.  WGNS
  • Thriving Together TN is hosting Stars on the Porch — a fundraiser celebrating local youth talent and supporting children and families — on October 25 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at 109 Laurel Grove Ct in Murfreesboro, where fall treats, live performances, silent auctions, and photo opportunities will engage the community.  Murfreesboro.com

  • Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee broke ground for a new Buc-ee's store in Murfreesboro—this will be the state's fourth store and is scheduled to open in late 2026.  The Daily News Journal

CRIME NEWS

  • Riley, who was 3 when she was rescued on Interstate 24 in 2022 after her father abducted her following her mother's murder, now thrives in second grade in North Carolina under the care of her adult sister—her father pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and received a life sentence.  Rutherford County Source

CULTURE NEWS

  • Country singer Craig Campbell and his family announced that the annual Grindstone Cowboy Christmas Concerts will return December 12, 13 and 14 at the award-winning venue in Eagleville. The concerts will begin at 7 p.m. each night and will feature the Campbell family along with special guests such as Bryce Leatherwood — tickets are limited to $100 including a signed poster.  Rutherford County Source

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Smyrna High School now offers a hygiene vending machine that provides students with essential items such as deodorant, toothpaste, and hygiene packs through a partnership with Archie’s Promise and WellPoint Tennessee. The machine (the 13th in the district) is replenished weekly to support student well-being and attendance.  Rutherford County Source
  • MTSU will host nationally recognized civil rights attorney Wesley Clark for a free talk on juvenile justice reforms at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 23 in Room 106 of the Paul W. Martin Sr. Honors Building—his discussion will highlight his work ending unlawful juvenile confinement and include a Q&A with light refreshments afterward.  WGNS

  • Randy Wiel, the former MTSU men's basketball coach (1996 to 2002), died on Oct. 14 at 74 after a lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer. His career left a lasting impact on the players he mentored during his time at MTSU.  The Daily News Journal
