  • Murfreesboro Police Department is sharing Halloween safety tips, urging parents to accompany children while trick-or-treating and to use flashlights (or glow sticks) for light. They warn to choose costumes with clear eye openings, keep flammable decorations away from heat, and have an adult review all candy before it is eaten.  Rutherford County Source

  • The John & Jen Show is back with local adventures and fall fun this week. The episode featured John’s birthday celebration, a Buc-ee’s road trip in Crossville and Sevierville, a Murfreesboro date night at a speakeasy-themed Airbnb, and local Halloween displays along with upcoming events at Wine Around the Square and Harvest Days at Cannonsburgh Village.  Murfreesboro.com

  • MTSU staff photographers have shared a photo gallery highlighting campus moments from Oct. 19, including a College of Education pumpkin painting event on Oct. 22—junior Sylvia Beverly painted Snoopy on a pumpkin during the event.  MTSU Sidelines
  • MTSU’s Division of Student Affairs held an off-campus housing fair outside the Student Union Building on Oct. 23 to offer transfer students affordable living options during National Transfer Student Week. The event featured seven off-campus complexes—Richland Falls Apartments, 2762 Residences, 1540 Place, Cobalt Row, Landmark Apartments, The Social Blue and the Albion at Murfreesboro Apartments—to help students avoid rising on-campus housing fees.  MTSU Sidelines

  • Residents in Murfreesboro can vote online to choose the top TSSAA boys athlete for the week of Oct. 20-25 from nine nominees, and the poll will close at 2 p.m. on Oct. 30.  The Daily News Journal

  • The TSSAA released the statewide Week 11 high school football schedule, with most games set for Oct. 30 as the playoffs draw near. The schedule lists key matchups across East, Middle and West Tennessee and indicates games will air on the NFHS Network.  The Daily News Journal
