- ➤ NTT Data will lay off 108 employees from its Nashville facility at 1211 Medical Center Drive by December 31. In Murfreesboro, Dexter Stamping Company filed a WARN notice immediately after closing its facility, affecting 114 workers. FOX 17
- ➤ A solar farm in Rutherford County was nominated for Solar Builder’s 2025 Project of the Year and will add cattle in 2026 to test a new grazing system—an innovative step following previous sheep integration. Middle Tennessee Electric is involved in the project—helping power more than 750,000 residents as researchers study cattle behavior and ecological impacts. WGNS

- ➤ Members of the Duck River Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution took a fall trip along the Natchez Trace—visiting the Gordon House Historic Site at milepost 407.7, where a brass plate was stolen, and the Meriwether Lewis Death and Burial Site at milepost 385.9. Murfreesboro Post
- ➤ Rutherford County resident Judy Heim will open her pottery studio to the public during the annual Art Studio Tour (Nov. 21-23, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.). The tour will include six local artists and give visitors a chance to see their creative work. Murfreesboro Post

- ➤ At a recent board meeting, Murfreesboro City Schools director Dr. Trey Duke honored Discovery School as a 2025 Blue Ribbon nominee for its high academic performance and commitment to closing achievement gaps based on TCAP scores, even though the U.S. Department of Education discontinued the program. The board also announced that its January retreat will be replaced by a longer televised evening meeting at the Administrative Complex, while MCS employee Rita Dotson was named Best of MCS honoree for October for her valuable contributions. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Murfreesboro officials said the Middle Point Landfill got its 4,000th odor complaint on September 15 and tests showed that landfill leachate, which has dangerous PFAS, is leaking into the East Fork Stones River. Republic Services and BFI Waste Systems said they fixed the seven environmental violations quickly — and they pointed to city wastewater sludge as another source of PFAS. Murfreesboro Post
