- ➤ Jessica Hogan created a neighborhood food pantry at her home — 422 Eventide Drive in Murfreesboro — on Nov. 6 to help residents facing food insecurity when SNAP benefits were lost, and neighbors contributed food, toiletries, and clothes with no judgment required. The Daily News Journal
- ➤ Murfreesboro Fire-Rescue’s Captain Matthew Young fought at the 16th Annual Guns-n-Hoses Charity Boxing Event in Chattanooga last week and won his match, earning his second Championship Belt now on display at Firehouse 4 + the event raised funds for YMCA’s Y-CAP program and the Forgotten Child Fund of Chattanooga. - ➤ Rutherford County Libraries closed their Linebaugh, Smyrna, and MGL branches in early November for a planned technology upgrade funded by a TOP Grant from the Secretary—upgrading computers, Wi-Fi, and self-checkout kiosks while staff are trained. Each branch will reopen on a staggered schedule within a week once new systems are in place. WGNS

- ➤ SNAP benefits were frozen on November 1 amid the nation’s longest government shutdown, leaving about 700,000 Tennesseans at risk of food insecurity. Gov.
