  • Two Tennesseans from Murfreesboro and Kingston won big after Saturday night’s Powerball drawing— a ticket sold at Publix on New Salem Highway in Murfreesboro doubled the base $50,000 prize with Power Play to reach $100,000 while a ticket from River Bend in Kingston earned $50,000.  FOX 17

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The U.S. Department of Energy recommends that Middle Tennessee residents set their thermostats at 68 degrees this winter for comfort and savings—experts say lowering the temperature when asleep or away can cut heating costs by up to 10%.  The Daily News Journal

  • MTSU club hockey beat Kennesaw 13-1 on Nov. 9 to win the Veterans Cup and complete a 12-game win streak—outscoring opponents 19-2 and featuring two hat tricks with Kieran Ogle named MVP.   • On November 8, the Blue Raiders lost to FIU 56-30 at Floyd Stadium in Murfreesboro, dropping to a 1-8 record with 0-5 in conference play as their offense struggled. Quarterback Nicholas Vattiato threw for 242 yards with three touchdowns while the team managed only 33 rushing yards, underscoring their offensive challenges.  Rutherford County Source
