- ➤ Yesterday, a Murfreesboro resident found a toddler safe near Manson Crossing Drive after the child was discovered wandering in 27-degree weather, and EMS and police returned the little one home as DCS reviewed the case. Community events included the 30th Annual Veterans Day Memorial Service at the historic square with Desert Storm veteran David Weil and Miss Tennessee Zoe Scheiderich, an ethics complaint filed against Mayor Joe Carr over alleged county resource misuse related to his honey business, and a TBI request for $3 million to target drug trafficking by mail—while the annual Christmas parade will take place on December 14 with candy-colored floats and Big GTV to cover the festivities, plus Kay Jernigan being named Titans Fan of the Year. - ➤ Santa will appear at Murfreesboro Municipal Airport on Sunday, November 16 from noon to 3 p.m. to offer families a chance to take photos in front of a Piper Cub airplane provided by the MTSU Aerospace Department+ if weather does not cooperate, the photo setup will move indoors to the Airport Business Center Lobby where visitors can also enjoy cookies, drinks and holiday music. - ➤ Rutherford County Mayor Joe Carr was injured while training a horse at his Lascassas farm on Nov. 11—he broke nine ribs, lacerated his liver, and suffered a semi-collapsed lung before he was taken to a hospital in Murfreesboro and then transferred to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. - ➤ MTSU student David Vandelay performed at McCallie's Dining Hall on November 10—entertaining students with popular covers and his original song Hindsight. His pop set included hits by Sabrina Carpenter and Don McLean—keeping the dining crowd fully engaged during the meal. MTSU Sidelines

- ➤ Auroras are now seen farther south when particles from the sun hit Earth's air and create bright colors—Tennesseans saw these lights in May 2024 and on June 1, and experts warn that rising solar storms may yield more displays. The Daily News Journal

- ➤ Mayor Shane McFarland announced on WGNS Radio that the One East College project is moving forward with revised mixed-use plans that cancel the hotel but keep condominiums, office, retail and public parking while preserving the historic First Methodist sanctuary — which may become a restaurant or performance venue. The project, located on a 2.5-acre site sold in 2019 for $1.8 million, will soon be presented to City Council for further action. WGNS

- ➤ MTSU lost 56-30 to FIU last Saturday because the team gained only 33 yards on 24 carries—running back Jekail Middlebrook got 30 yards and the offensive line struggled with consistency. The team will try to run better in its next game against Western Kentucky on Nov. 15. MTSU Sidelines
- ➤ Six Rutherford County high school teams remain in the state playoffs after Smyrna ended its season last week. Experts expect Oakland, Blackman, Maryville, FCA, Memphis Middle College and Trinity Christian to win on Friday while Riverdale (coached by Will Kriesky) faces a tough game at Maryville in the second round. - ➤ High school senior athletes from the Nashville area are set to sign with colleges during the November signing period for sports other than football, which begins Nov 12 (as submitted by local schools).
