- ➤ Five community events are scheduled in Rutherford County this weekend — Downtown After 5: Holiday Edition kicks off today in Historic Downtown Murfreesboro from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Delight the Lights at The Avenue is held on November 15 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., Stewart’s Creek Middle School Craft Fair runs on November 15 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Nissan-Smyrna Recycling Roundup is set for November 15 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Christmas Village takes place at Nashville Fairgrounds through November 16. - ➤ A temporary federal shutdown in October halted SNAP deposits and delayed new labor figures as federal data was missing, but Tennessee officials restored 65% of November’s SNAP funds on November 12—while Murfreesboro’s August unemployment rate remained low at 3.1%. WGNS

- ➤ Discovery School’s STEAM teacher Julie Seymour won a 2025 RISE Award — Recognizing Inspirational School Employees — from the Tennessee Department of Education for her hands-on lessons that help students solve real problems. School leaders said her work makes school learning fun and helps kids think better — a win for hands-on teaching. WGNS

- ➤ Ascension Saint Thomas is investing over $537 million to upgrade and expand medical facilities in Middle Tennessee, with projects in Davidson, Montgomery and Rutherford counties aimed at improving patient access and care + including a new freestanding emergency room planned in south Murfreesboro. - ➤ The Department of Health released the lowest food scores for Rutherford County from November 6 through November 13, noting that Chinese and Hibachi Grill in Murfreesboro received the lowest score while other establishments in Murfreesboro and Smyrna were also inspected.
