  • Four-year-old students at The Learning Experience of Murfreesboro are learning philanthropy by packing food bags for families who lost SNAP benefits during the government shutdown.   • Julie Seymour, the STEAM coordinator at Discovery School, was named one of two statewide winners of the 2025 RISE Award by the Tennessee Department of Education for her work in making STEAM hands-on and accessible—an honor that highlights her teaching leadership. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Congress approved new hemp restrictions in a federal appropriations law—signed after a 43-day shutdown—that set THC limits at under 0.4 milligrams per container, affecting low-dose THC drinks in Tennessee. The law will take effect on November 13th, 2026 as introduced by Senator McConnell and aims to close a loophole in the 2018 Farm Act.  The Daily News Journal
  • Murfreesboro held its annual Veterans Day ceremony on Nov. 11 outside the Rutherford County Courthouse, drawing about 150 veterans, families and residents + trumpeter Lauren Spencer played the national anthem and Taps while members of the Murfreesboro Composite Squadron with the Air Force Auxiliary read names.  Murfreesboro Post

  • Middle Tennessee State football will try to break its six game losing streak against rival Western Kentucky today at 2:30 p.m. on ESPN+ as the team seeks a win after a recent loss that saw its starting quarterback replaced, while Western Kentucky is favored to secure its seventh straight win in the rivalry.  The Daily News Journal
  • On Nov. 14, Oakland beat Bradley Central 35-10 to reach the Class 6A state quarterfinals, where Tennessee commitment Joel Wyatt—who transferred from Webb School—is excelling as a defensive back despite being recruited as a wide receiver. Wyatt said the deep playoff run feels amazing and he plans game visits in Tennessee today and Nov. 29 as his team continues in the TSSAA playoffs.  The Daily News Journal

  • MTSU redshirt freshman Roman Gagliano will start today at 2:30 p.m. CDT in Bowling Green in place of injured Nick Vattiato—he is set to lead the Blue Raiders against arch-rival Western Kentucky.
