- ➤ MFRD firefighters Ryan St. Peter and Dillion Meyer were awarded the 2025 Firefighter of the Year Award by the Exchange Club of Rutherford County for rescuing an elderly man from a burning home on E. Burton Street in August; they were honored at a luncheon at Through the Grapevine (the patient was airlifted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center) (fire chief commended their bravery). - ➤ Barnabas Vision, a local nonprofit, is hosting a winter coat drive for families in need on Tuesday, November 25 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. where new and gently used coats will be distributed — callers who need a coat sooner may call 6155565134 and the nonprofit is seeking Christmas sponsors to help more families. - ➤ For 25 years, the Hunters for the Hungry program has provided about 10.5 million meals of venison to people in need. The Tennessee Wildlife Federation and the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency run the program+it directs hunters to donate their venison through licensed processors to local food banks and charities. - ➤ The Tennessean holiday lights map is accepting submissions from local homeowners and businesses for festive displays — submissions will be published on tennessean.com on Nov. 23 to showcase Middle Tennessee's best decorations this season. The Daily News Journal

- ➤ Mary Evins spoke on Monday at Simmons Amphitheater in the Honors building, explaining how Tennessee women claimed political and educational space following the 19th Amendment—she retired in July after 16 years with MTSU’s American Democracy Project.
