  • Cardiologist Dr. Azzouz and Ascension CEO Daphne David discussed Rutherford County's heart care concerns on WGNS Action Line today—they explained plans for a new emergency department in Lascassas, ongoing expansions at Westlawn, and a new cardiology department to serve the growing community.  WGNS

  • Murfreesboro residents are invited to vote for the local TSSAA girls athlete of the week for Nov. 17-22. The nominees include Madisen Stanley of Central Magnet, Jules Ferrell of MTCS, Kayte Madison Bjornstad of PCA, Madison Taylor of Riverdale, Amaya Nash of Rockvale, and Neela Alexander of Siegel, with the poll closing at noon on Nov. 28.  The Daily News Journal
  • The Blue Raiders swept Kennesaw State over the weekend in Antioch—extending their win streak to 16 as Siciliano scored four goals in his final game. MTSU will return to the Ford Ice Center after winter break—Jan. 17–18—to face Liberty University.  MTSU Sidelines
  • MTSU coach Derek Mason will return for 2026 after a 31-17 win on November 22 brought the Blue Raiders to a 2-9 record — the team had lost seven consecutive games, three by three points. A vote on his 2025 season performance will close at noon on November 28 as the team prepares to play New Mexico State on November 29.  The Daily News Journal
  • MTSU announced that head coach Derek Mason will return for the 2026 season — his third season with the Blue Raiders. The decision came after the team snapped a seven-game losing streak with their first home win in over a year and ahead of the final game on November 29th.  MTSU Sidelines
  • Middle Tennessee opened the Cayman Islands Classic with a close 90-87 win over Murray State in Grand Cayman on Sunday. Torey Alston—who scored a career-high 26 points and grabbed 16 rebounds—led the Blue Raiders while Alec Oglesby added 17 points and freshman Luka Jovanovic contributed a key tip-in dunk to boost their second-half play.  Murfreesboro Post
