  • Rutherford County SROs invite the community to join the annual Shop with the Sheriff fundraiser Tuesday, Dec. 2 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at three Toot’s restaurants, which will fund a Walmart shopping trip for about 30 elementary students in need – providing holiday gifts and added support to local families.  Rutherford County Source
  • Crabtree Homes Group launched an interactive map that shows dozens of residential holiday light displays in Murfreesboro and lets residents vote for their favorite to enter a drawing for a 100-dollar Visa gift card. The map will be updated weekly and will add new displays throughout December.  WGNS
  • Scott Foster, founder of The Journey Home, discussed his ministry that helps homeless residents find housing and health-care services at a new building in Murfreesboro — the center will offer a reliable resource for those in need.   • Rutherford County Commissioner Romel McMurry will host a community Thanksgiving meal at 5 p.m. today at Blackman United Methodist Church to welcome anyone in Murfreesboro, including furloughed workers, veterans, and those in need.   • Domenico’s Italian Deli held a ribbon cutting ceremony on November 21 at 11 a.m. for its new location at Georgetown Plaza on West Northfield Blvd — the deli now serves Italian style sandwiches, pasta and catering trays.  Murfreesboro.com
  • American Signature Inc. filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy after it announced closing four American Signature Furniture stores in Tennessee including the Murfreesboro location—its future store plans will be decided by an upcoming sale process and court documents show the company has over 1,000 creditors with more than $100 million in assets and over $500 million in liabilities. Store websites will remain open while the closings are finalized.  The Daily News Journal
  • M.L. Rose Neighborhood Pub opened on Medical Center Parkway on November 24, giving Murfreesboro diners a new option—while a Chick-fil-A near South Church Street and Joe B. Jackson Parkway received city approval and will soon serve the south side. La Vergne recently celebrated the opening of its first Panda Express as part of growing restaurant choices across Rutherford County.  The Daily News Journal

ECONOMY NEWS

  • AAA reports that gas prices in Tennessee have fallen by four cents ahead of a busy Thanksgiving travel week, with the state average now at $2.64 per gallon—1 cent above last month’s price and 7 cents below last year’s. Megan Cooper said that if prices hold, drivers could see the cheapest Thanksgiving gas prices since 2020—easing travel costs for the holiday.  Rutherford County Source

SPORTS NEWS

  • Rutherford County had a big volleyball season as two teams won state championships + two others competed in the state tournament. Eagleville won its first state title with a 43-5 win + MTCS earned its trophy after a reverse sweep to finish 33-3.  Murfreesboro Post
  • Roman Gagliano led the Blue Raiders to their first home win in over a year on November 22 at Floyd Stadium with 268 passing yards and three touchdowns, showing his skill and enthusiasm. He will start his third game on November 29 against New Mexico State — aiming to spark a new winning run.  MTSU Sidelines
