  • Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department rescued a dog from the West Fork Stones River off Warrior Drive behind Costco on Tuesday, Dec. 30 around 2 p.m. and turned it over to Rutherford County Animal Welfare Services.  Rutherford County Source

  • On Tuesday, Murfreesboro doctors warned of a sharp flu surge statewide, and state leaders announced multi-million dollar investments to improve sidewalks and biking paths across Rutherford County — a new law to boost cyclist safety will take effect Jan. 1 while local gas prices remain among the state’s lowest.  WGNS

  • Tennessee health officials confirmed 189 clinical cases of the drug-resistant fungus Candida auris in hospitals and long-term care facilities, prompting state laboratories to intensify infection control measures & screening.   • Ascension Saint Thomas and Lifepoint Rehabilitation received state approval to build a 40-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Murfreesboro (set to open in 2027) that will offer intensive therapy for adults recovering from strokes, brain or spinal injuries.  Murfreesboro.com
  • Flu cases are rising and local providers urge residents six months and older to get a flu shot, especially at high risk (pregnant women, infants, and older adults).
