- ➤ Rockvale Elementary principal Dayna Nichols is retiring after 31 years with Rutherford County Schools. She led the school for 12 years and is succeeded by Jason Crutchfield — Nichols plans to remain active in the community. WGNS
- ➤ Three Tennessee students are competing at the Scripps National Spelling Bee this week in Washington D.C., including 8th grader Marian Jenkins — who qualified by placing second at the Tennessee Titans Regional Spelling Bee. It is the first time in 15 years that the Bee is held in the capital. NewsChannel 5

- ➤ Middle Tennessee State University’s Center for Health and Human Services secured a $225,000 state grant from the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development through the Rural Works: Healthcare Initiative in Murfreesboro — boosting rural healthcare access and training opportunities for students while developing a new Workforce Certificate. - ➤ Seven Rutherford County restaurants received health inspection scores below 80 in April. Rock-N-Roll Sushi in Murfreesboro scored 79 on April 1 before a follow-up raised its score to 99 (corrective measures implemented) while restaurants in Smyrna and La Vergne were cited for issues including live insects and improper food handling.
