- ➤ On August 5, 2025 just before noon a pedestrian was hit by a pickup truck at the intersection of Old Fort Parkway and New Salem Highway in front of Thornton’s gas station—authorities closed the inbound lanes on Old Fort Parkway while the person’s condition remains unknown. WGNS

- ➤ Niche has released its 2025 ranking of Tennessee’s public high schools based on state test scores, college readiness and reviews. The list names nearly 500 schools, with Murfreesboro’s Central Magnet School ranked No. 2 overall and as the top public magnet school (by combined metrics). The Daily News Journal
- ➤ Leadership Middle Tennessee announced its Class of 2026 with 41 members from 10 Middle Tennessee counties who will join a year-long leadership program with monthly sessions in each county.
